Image Engine pushed the boundaries of photorealism with the creation of unfalteringly lifelike digital doubles of Logan‘s core protagonists. The studio handled most of the digital doubles for the film, doing the primary work on both Hugh Jackman and Dafne Keen who plays Laura. Much of the work was subtle, such as invisible head, face or body replacements to allow for the film’s complex stunts and action.
The studio delivered 299 shots which included 63 head replacements in 51 shots, as some scenes involved multiple characters in the same shot, 10 full digital body doubles, and environments, explosions, and set extensions.
