Visual Effects Supervisor

Martyn Culpitt is a visual effects supervisor at Image Engine, where he has been a key member of the team since 2012. Over the past decade, he has led some of the studio’s most ambitious and technically challenging projects, bringing creative problem-solving, calm leadership, and a collaborative spirit to every production. Most recently, he supervised Dune: Prophecy, which earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects.

His track record of recognition includes a 2023 VES Award nomination for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in Outstanding Effects Simulation in a Photoreal Feature, as well as VES and HPA Award nominations for Jurassic World and a Leo Award nomination for Alien: Ore

Joining Image Engine in 2012, Martyn started initially as a compositing supervisor and soon after became a visual effects supervisor overseeing many projects over the years, including Kraven the Hunter, Willow, Bloodshot, Birds of Prey, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and Logan.

Originally from New Zealand, Martyn began his career at Sauce before moving on to Oktobor Films, where he managed the 2D department and contributed to commercial and feature work, including The Lord of the Rings trilogy. After relocating to British Columbia in 2004, he briefly worked as a snowboarding instructor before joining CIS/Deluxe as a compositing supervisor, contributing to projects like Tropic Thunder, Twilight, Angels & Demons, Invictus, Salt, and The Green Hornet

Martyn continues to bring his technical expertise, artistic eye, and steady leadership to every project he undertakes at Image Engine.
