Katie Johnson is truly a people person with exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills that help her navigate through any situation thrown her way. In her role as visual effects producer at Image Engine, Katie ensures a team mentality is always at the forefront while overseeing the production of a show and making sure the client’s creative vision becomes a reality.
Growing up in Vancouver’s north shore, Katie graduated with honours from British Columbia Institute of Technology for journalism. Originally wanting to work in entertainment news as an on-camera host, she quickly discovered she preferred being behind the camera, managing productions in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
While working in extras casting on set, as well as at a local rock radio station, she was approached by DNEG Vancouver to become a runner. After two weeks in the role, she was promoted to production assistant and then show coordinator on Deadpool 2. She continued to work on feature films at DNEG, including Pacific Rim: Uprising, The Kid who would be King, Holmes & Watson, Godzilla: King of Monsters, Venom, and more.
After hearing praise for their great company culture, Katie decided to join Image Engine as her next career move. It did not disappoint as Katie was immediately welcomed into one massive work family. Starting with Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Katie has gone on to work on projects including academy award-nominated Mulan, Carnival Row, Alien: Ore, and The Mandalorian season 2 before being promoted to production manager for Snowpiercer season 2 and then promoted again to VFX producer. Most recently, Katie has completed production on Willow and Snowpiercer seasons 3 and 4.
When Katie Johnson is not working, you can usually catch her in a spin class, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or hiking around the local trails with her adorable corgi.
