With a strong foundation in design and storytelling, Gabriel Pires brings both artistic sensibility and technical expertise to his role as compositing supervisor at Image Engine. He is known for aligning creative intent with technical execution, ensuring consistency and quality across complex visual effects work.
At Image Engine, Gabriel’s work includes contributions to three Emmy Award–winning productions, Skeleton Crew, The Book of Boba Fett, and Game of Thrones season 8, as well as a VES Award nomination for The Gorge.
As a compositing supervisor, he has also led Tron: Ares, Murderbot, Kraven the Hunter, Ahsoka, and The Mandalorian season 3, helping guide complex visual effects sequences from concept through final delivery. In earlier roles at Image Engine, Gabriel contributed to projects such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Snowpiercer, Bloodshot, Out of the Cradle, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Kin, The Meg, Skyscraper, Thor: Ragnarok, and Detroit.
Starting his career in stereo conversion at Gener8, Gabriel later worked as a compositor at MPC and DNEG. His early career also included time as a CG generalist and on-set artist, as well as directing, writing, and animating a 35-minute film for the planetarium in Rio de Janeiro.
Originally trained in graphic design in Brazil, Gabriel developed his visual effects skills at Vancouver Film School.
