Gabriel Pires brings his expertise, creativity and love of storytelling to his role as compositing supervisor at Image Engine. After graduating as a graphic designer in Brazil in 2008, Gabriel furthered his education at Vancouver Film School.
His career started with directing, writing, and animating a 35-minute animated movie for the planetarium in Rio de Janeiro. Then he started CG generalist and on-set work before he moved to Vancouver, where he worked at Gener8 in stereo conversion and later became a compositor at MPC and DNEG.
Joining Image Engine in 2017 as a compositor, Gabriel was promoted to compositing supervisor in 2023. With a robust foundation in shot composition and extensive CG experience, Gabriel ensures that the creative and technical aspects of compositing align seamlessly, upholding Image Engine’s commitment to excellence.
Highlights at Image Engine include working on challenging and rewarding Star Wars projects and getting to be part of two Emmy award-winning projects, The Book of Boba Fett and Game of Thrones season 8. Additionally, Gabriel has contributed to Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Snowpiercer, Bloodshot, Out of the Cradle, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Kin, The Meg, Skyscraper, Thor: Ragnarok, Detroit, and more.
Outside of his work in creating captivating visuals at Image Engine, Gabriel Pires has extensive experience with oil portrait painting and photography.
