Shane Richards is an animation supervisor at Image Engine with extensive experience bringing characters and creatures to life across film and episodic productions. Known for combining strong technical understanding with artistic abilities, Shane maintains a keen eye for detail while helping animation teams deliver high-quality, performance-driven work.
Shane has been with Image Engine since 2018, progressing from senior animator to lead animator and now animation supervisor. During his time at the studio, he has contributed to projects including The Gorge, Dune: Prophecy, Lift, Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Lost in Space, Game of Thrones, and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.
Prior to joining Image Engine, Shane spent nearly four years as a senior animator at MPC Vancouver, working on films such as Aquaman, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Sully, and Independence Day: Resurgence. Earlier in his career, he worked across design, multimedia, and animation studios in Australia, including Ambience Entertainment, Dr. D Studios, and The Lab Sydney, contributing to productions such as Happy Feet 2 and The Adventures of Figaro Pho.
Originally from Australia, Shane studied interactive multimedia before attending The Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in 2003 to study 3D animation. In 2008, he attended Animation Mentor to further refine his craft.
