Richard Spriggs

Animation Supervisor

Richard Spriggs is an Animation Supervisor at Image Engine known for his strong creative eye and collaborative leadership. He works closely with artists to refine animation while motivating teams to deliver visuals at the highest quality. His work on Venom: Let There Be Carnage earned a 2021 VES Award nomination for Outstanding Animated Character in a Photoreal Feature.

Since joining Image Engine in 2018, Richard has contributed his expertise to a wide range of film and episodic productions, including Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, Murderbot, The Gorge, 3 Body Problem, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Swan Song, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Project Power, Bloodshot, and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.

Prior to joining Image Engine, Richard spent several years at Moving Picture Company (MPC), first in London and later in Vancouver. While at MPC, he worked as an animator on projects including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2, Wrath of the Titans, and Man of Steel. After transferring to the Vancouver studio, he became a Lead Animator on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, and Goosebumps, before being promoted to Animation Supervisor in 2016. In that role, he contributed to films such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Sully, and Alpha.

Richard began his career in 2007 at Guru Studio in Toronto, working on the television series The Backyardigans. He later worked at Soho VFX and Starz Animation before relocating to London to join MPC in 2010. Richard holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art and Design and a certification in Computer Animation from Sheridan College.
