An Academy Award and Emmy-winning visual effects supervisor, Nicholas Brooks brings over three decades of experience and more than 40 feature film credits to Image Engine. His Oscar-winning work on What Dreams May Come was widely recognized for its painterly, visually original aesthetic, while Dreamkeeper earned him an Emmy for outstanding visual effects. He also developed and created the now-iconic “bullet time” technique for The Matrix

In more recent years, Nicholas has served as production visual effects supervisor on major feature films, including IT, IT Chapter Two, and Lucy, continuing to lead large-scale, visually ambitious productions. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to a wide range of notable titles, including Blade II and Starship Troopers

His relationship with Image Engine spans multiple points in his career. He has worked with the studio on projects such as Elysium and Immortals, and was also a client on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Now You See Me, and The Last Witch Hunter while serving as production visual effects supervisor.

Throughout his career, Nicholas has consistently embraced emerging technologies, including virtual production, performance capture, LiDAR, and machine learning-driven tools, applying them in service of the story, character, and tone. With a background that bridges art, technology, and filmmaking, he brings a holistic approach to visual effects, uniting artists, engineers, and production teams to realize ambitious creative visions.
