Matthew Kiefer

Compositing Supervisor

Matthew Kiefer is a CG supervisor at Image Engine, bringing a strong combination of artistic and technical expertise to projects across film and episodic visual effects. Since joining the studio in 2018, he has contributed to a wide range of productions, collaborating across departments to support high-quality visual storytelling and efficient CG workflows.

At Image Engine, Matthew has held roles including lighting supervisor and lead lighting TD on projects such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, Murderbot, Kraven the Hunter, Alien: Romulus, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Foundation season 2, Moon Knight, The Book of Boba Fett, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Snowpiercer, The Mandalorian, Project Power, and Mulan.

Initially, Matthew began his career at DreamWorks Animation, where he worked in lighting and tool development, building a foundation that combined creative problem-solving with technical workflow support. He later continued his experience at Reel FX, through freelance work in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and at Sony Pictures Imageworks, contributing to projects including Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Love, Death & Robots.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Effects and Technical Direction from the Savannah College of Art and Design. His broad background across lighting, pipeline tools, and CG production continues to inform his collaborative approach as a supervisor.
