James Stuart

CG Supervisor

James Stuart is a CG supervisor at Image Engine with extensive experience leading teams across look development, lighting, and asset creation for large-scale film and episodic productions. A VES Award–nominated artist, James is known for his strong technical leadership and collaborative approach to building complex, high-quality visual effects.

At Image Engine, James oversees teams across multiple departments, helping guide the development and delivery of detailed assets and environments while supporting the creative vision of supervisors and clients.

Prior to joining Image Engine, James held senior roles at several leading visual effects studios. Most recently, he served as head of assets at Digital Domain, where he worked on projects including The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Fountain of Youth, Thunderbolts, A Minecraft Movie, and Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force. Earlier in his career he was a CG supervisor at Framestore and Digital Domain, contributing to productions such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Loki, Black Widow, and WandaVision.

James has also worked within the Cinesite group previously, having spent time at Cinesite London from 2015–2016 where he contributed to Gods of Egypt, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and The Revenant.

James studied visual effects for production at Escape Studios and holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics and Special Effects from Leeds Beckett University.
