Carlos Conceição is the BG Prep Supervisor at Image Engine with 15 years of experience in the computer graphics industry. Originally from Portugal, Carlos studied computer engineering, as well as visual effects. His career began as a CG architectural visualization artist and transitioned into visual effects compositing.
Throughout the years, Carlos had the opportunity to travel the world working in multicultural environments in London, Vancouver, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing and Mumbai, for multiple other companies like ILM, Scanline, BaseFX, and most recently Image Engine.
Over his career, Carlos has worked on over 50 major film and TV blockbusters, including The Dark Knight Rises, Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker, The Mandalorian, Aquaman, Aladdin, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Justice League, Independence Day: Resurgence, Avengers – Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Star Wars: Episode VII, and more.
One of his career highlights includes working on The Book of Boba Fett, which Image Engine received an Emmy Award for ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie.’ Carlos has also collaborated across the studio’s roster of projects such as The School for Good and Evil, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Moon Knight, Snowpiercer, Hawkeye, The Unforgivable, and Swan Song.
As the BG Prep Supervisor at Image Engine, Carlos delivers high-quality rotoscopy mattes and painted plates. He communicates with all departments, optimizes processes, and supports his team’s individual career growth. Carlos is committed to fostering a supportive environment for his team.
Outside of work, Carlos runs RTC VFX Academy, which focuses on developing the skills for new artists to succeed in BG prep and compositing.
