Ben McEwan is head of 2D at Image Engine, where he oversees the compositing, DMP, and bgPrep departments, guiding the creative and technical delivery of high-quality visual effects across all projects at the studio.
In his role, he works closely with production teams and artists to guide 2D workflows, support creative problem-solving, and ensure consistent visual quality from project inception through final delivery.
Ben joined Image Engine in 2018, progressing through senior roles including compositing supervisor and lead, following a career that has taken him through a range of studios in Australia and North America.
Earlier in his career, he worked at studios including Double Negative, Industrial Light & Magic, OATS Studios, and Umedia, building experience across feature film and episodic work while advancing into leadership positions.
He began his visual effects career in Australia in 2008, gaining early hands-on and on-set experience before moving into studio environments and developing a strong foundation in compositing and supervision.
