Matt Kowaliszyn

Animation Supervisor

Matt Kowaliszyn (“pronounced ‘Ko-Va-LIsh-In’ like ‘demolition,’ but most people call me Matt Ko”) joined Image Engine in 2021 during the Covid pandemic as animation supervisor. Matt is a Star Wars geek who supervised The Skeleton Crew, The Mandalorian season 3, and The Book of Boba Fett, which won an Emmy Award for outstanding VFX.

Matt’s passion for animation began in childhood, fueled by behind-the-scenes footage of VFX, animation, and filmmaking – as well as aviation. His career started with a high school co-op position at Phoenix Animation in Toronto, where he received his first film credit as an inbetween artist on All Dogs Go to Heaven 2.

Since starting his professional animation career in 2000, Matt has worked on numerous TV shows, commercials, VFX films, and animated features. He was the animation lead on Godzilla (2014), Edge of Tomorrow, The Christmas Chronicles, Monster Trucks, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and Seventh Son.

As an animation supervisor at Method Studios, he worked on Black Panther, The Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Ford vs Ferrari, as well as The Mummy, and Independence Day: Resurgence at MPC.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys the creative storytelling process, including writing, storyboarding, and creating children’s books. His latest book, The Trouble with Pterosaurs, was published in July 2024.
