After graduating with a Bachelor in Computer Graphics from École Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle in Rennes, France in 2002, Laurent Hamery began his career at Foret-Bleue, a studio where he worked in many departments including layout, rotoscope, FX, lighting, lookdev, matte painting, and scripting.
In the following years, Laurent joined various studios in France including Sparx in Paris, Duboi in Boulogne, Attitude Studio in St. Denis, Mikros Images in Levallois, and View in Paris working on commercials, feature films, feature animations, and shorts.
In 2007 Laurent joined Framestore in London to work on The Golden Compass as a Lookdev / Lighting TD and shader writer. He then made the move to Moving Picture Company where he contributed to Narnia: Prince Caspian before being promoted to Head of Render Engineering, a role which saw him working on many feature films including Angels and Demons, Quantum of Solace, Watchmen, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Wolfman, and Prince of Persia.
In 2010, Laurent was employed by Double Negative where he first took on the role of Shader Writer, then Lighting Supervisor and finally Senior Pipeline Supervisor. In these roles he worked on Inception, Captain America; The First Avenger, The Dark Knight Rises, Fast & Furious 6, Interstellar, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Assassin’s Creed.
In 2016 Laurent moved to Vancouver to take on the role of Shader Writer Principle at Sony Pictures Imageworks where he contributed to The Meg, Small Foot, Spiderman: Homecoming, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Laurent joined Image Engine in 2018 as CG Supervisor and has since contributed to many titles including Overlord and Alien: Ore, and is currently working on Lost in Space – Season 2.
