As an Emmy Award nominee for Snowpiercer season 3, Hannes Poser brings his technical expertise and efficient leadership style to Image Engine as a VFX supervisor.
After completing his diploma in digital arts and production at The German Film School, Hannes started his career in visual effects as a freelance CG generalist in Berlin for two years before joining Pixomondo in 2008. His career at the studio took him abroad to Shanghai and Frankfurt, where he rose through the ranks to CG lead and contributed to commercials for Mercedes and Porsche.
In 2011, Hannes moved to Los Angeles and began work as a lighting lead at Uncharted Territory, working on Anonymous and Hugo. He then made his transition to visual effects for feature films when he started at Scanline as a senior lighting technical director, contributing to major projects including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 300: Rise of an Empire, Wolf of Wall Street, Man of Steel, Iron Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Battleship.
While at Scanline, Hannes transferred from Los Angeles to Vancouver, where he was promoted to CG supervisor on Batman V Superman. Afterwards, took on the role of CG supervisor at Digital Domain where he worked on Power Rangers and Avengers: Infinity War.
Hannes joined Image Engine in 2018 as CG supervisor on season eight of Game of Thrones for which Image Engine won an Emmy Award. In 2019, Hannes took on the role of VFX supervisor, leading our team for Netflix’s superhero film, The Old Guard.
Most recently, he led the visual effects work for seasons 2, 3, and 4 of Snowpiercer, which received a 2022 Emmy Award nomination for ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Single Episode‘ for “A Beacon For Us All” episode in season 3.
