Freddy Chávez OImos brings more than 16 years of experience in visual effects working in feature films, TV, and commercials to his role as Compositing Supervisor at Image Engine. He is able to guide the compositing team and ensure the creative vision is met for our clients. Most recently, he has contributed his expertise to productions such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett, and Hawkeye.
Born in Puebla, Mexico, Freddy studied special effects make-up in Los Angeles and was later mentored by the legendary Dick Smith, who was known for his work on such films as The Exorcist.
Working in the visual effects industry in Vancouver, Freddy has participated in productions directed by Guillermo del Toro, Neill Blomkamp, Robert Rodriguez, Tim Burton, and Christopher Nolan, and has been part of Oscar and Emmy-winning VFX studios, including Image Engine, Double Negative, Industrial Light & Magic, Method Studios, Weta Digital, Fuse FX, and Scanline VFX.
Freddy also writes and directs projects independently, including the award-winning short films Leviticus 24:20, Duérmete Niño, and Shhh, which Guillermo del Toro himself praised for having strong visuals. He is a member of the Directors Guild of Canada and a sought-after guest speaker at venues including San Diego’s Comic-Con, ACM SIGGRAPH, Spark FX, and TEDx.
