Alex Lombardi began his career in visual effects as 3D generalist and FX artist at Last Pixel in Perth, Australia in 2008 after receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Curtin University.
In 2010 Alex joined the team at Iloura in Melbourne working on Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance. After a year, he moved to Vancouver to join Scanline VFX as FX Artist working on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Pompeii, 300: Rise of an Empire, Ironman 3, and Man of Steel.
After a brief stint at ILM as FX TD where he worked on Transformers: Age of Extinction and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Alex joined Image Engine to contribute to American Sniper, San Andreas, Point Break, and KINGSGLAIVE: FINAL FANTASY XV.
He began working with Neill Blomkamp at Oats Studios, managing the FX pipeline and workflow, and creating custom tools in 2016, before starting his own boutique FX studio Stormborn Studios where he dealt with facility management, client relations, and pipeline creation all while delivering realistic FX simulations and dynamics for his clients.
In the start of 2019 Alex returned to Image Engine, this time as FX Department Supervisor, to contribute to Spider-Man: Far From Home, The Mandalorian, and Mulan among other titles. In this role he helps to shape the FX department, contributes to the development of the studio’s pipeline, and works with other departmental supervisors to deliver Image Engine’s roster of projects.
