Developing a Unified Pipeline with Character
Andrew Kaufman will discuss Image Engine’s current development efforts towards scalable, maintainable tools for the ever-increasing complexity involved in visual effects production.
The presentation will detail specific software design choices, highlight successful intra and inter-studio collaborations, and describe the architecture of Image Engine’s two open source projects, Cortex and Gaffer, explaining how they are used inside proprietary applications for look development, lighting, and asset management, and how such applications are embedded into 3rd party software like Maya, Houdini, and Nuke.
The Image Engine pipeline has seen continuous development and use on all Image Engine projects to date, including District 9, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Thing, Battleship, Zero Dark Thirty, Fast & Furious 6, R.I.P.D., White House Down, Elysium, and Lone Survivor.
Thursday, April 24, Raum Reutlingen, 10:00 – 10:30
