Jason Snyman brings a wealth of visual effects experience to Image Engine, having previously worked on such high-profile feature films as Avatar, Elysium, Man of Steel and The Lord of the Rings.
A self-taught artist, Jason grew up in South Africa, during which time he taught himself the fundamentals of Alias’s PowerAnimator system.
In 2000 Jason moved to England, where his professional career flourished as a VFX artist at Mill Film in Shepperton Studios. Here Jason was exposed to all aspects of filmmaking, from seeing props carted around the studio lot to gaining in-depth experience in the intricacies of VFX creation.
Several years later Jason moved to New Zealand to work as a texture painter at Weta Digital. While working at Weta, Jason moved from asset work to animation, and contributed to such projects as Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, I, Robot, King Kong and Avatar.
Jason’s love of snowboarding saw him gravitate to Vancouver, where he joined MPC. Jason stayed at the company for six years, working on shows such as Godzilla and Goosebumps.
Image Engine has always been on Jason’s radar, and he decided to join the team in 2015 as Animation Supervisor. Jason has recently contributed to Independence Day Resurgence. He is currently working on a number of projects, including Power Rangers.
