Damien is an experienced digital environment supervisor who brings a wealth of talent and understanding to his role at Image Engine.
Damien’s career began in his home country of Australia, where he worked at gaming, advertising and post-production studios such as Ratbag Games, KOJO and Fuel VFX. In 2007, Damien joined Animal Logic as a matte painter, and created sweeping vistas for projects such as Baz Luhrmann’s epic feature Australia and Alex Proyas’s Knowing.
Following this Damien went on to work at Rising Sun Pictures as matte painting lead, where he contributed to a large number of high-profile feature films. This included Alfonso Cuarón’s Academy Award winning Gravity, in which he created matte paintings of Earth as seen from space. As art director at Rising Sun, Damien contributed to Joe Wright’s Pan, in which he created an opening shot of 1940s London. Other film credits include X-Men: Days of Future Past and Captain America: The First Avenger.
Damien spent 7 months at Image Engine in 2012, during which time he partially redesigned the environment featured in the end fight sequence of Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium.
He rejoined Image Engine in 2016, bringing his deep understanding of photoreal 2D/3D environments. He is involved across the entire process on some of Image Engine’s most challenging environment shots, from early pitch through to final execution. Damien has contributed to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and is currently working on Logan.
